London bathrooms are rarely a standard shape, and upper floors rarely love a heavy bath. The Albion Bath Company solves both. Hand-making baths in its Essex factory since 1996, Albion invented its own material to get the look of cast iron without the drawbacks.
2010
Albion spent two years developing Iso-Enamel, a composite of high-tech resin and reinforced mineral. It gives the deep, warm, porcelain-like finish of cast iron and holds heat far better than acrylic yet a typical Albion bath weighs around 70kg, roughly a third of a cast-iron tub. That means you can have the freestanding cast-iron look upstairs or in a flat without paying to reinforce the floor. It also resists chips, crazing and staining, even from limescale removers.
Made to your measurements and your colour
This is where Albion really earns its place. Baths are made to order in sizes from a compact 1200mm to a generous 2000mm, so we can specify one to fit an awkward or characterful space rather than forcing a standard tub into it. Exteriors can be colour-matched to any Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux, RAL or Pantone reference, or finished in burnished copper, brass, nickel or pewter from the ball-and-claw Solus to the compact Tubby.
A bespoke, lightweight bath is exactly what a lot of London projects need — a period bathroom on the first floor, a loft conversion, a narrow Victorian box room. We help you specify the right model, size and colour, and install it properly, including the support and plumbing a freestanding bath needs.
We start with a free chat. You can tell us what you like and dislike about your current bathroom, what style you want next, and any ideas or inspiration you already have. You can share your budget range and timing.
We then look at the room in person or through clear photos and details. We check the layout, pipes, electrics and structure. This helps us plan a safe and smart construction approach.
Next, we share a clear plan. We suggest layouts and designs that fit your home and your taste. We point out key materials and fixture choices. We include notes on lighting, storage, and space use.
We then give you a written quote that explains the services included. We talk you through it in simple terms so you feel confident and informed before you say yes.
When you are happy, we lock in the plan. We agree on a start date and a simple schedule. We order the main fixtures and branded items. We plan when each tradesperson will be on site.
Careful management and clear communication keep the project smooth. You always know what is happening next.
During the build, we protect floors and nearby rooms. We removed the old bathroom safely. We carry out plumbing, electrics, tiling, and installation in the right order. We keep you updated on progress in clear language.
You have a single point of contact for all questions. We manage the whole project, the tradespeople and the timing, so you do not have to.
At the end, we carry out careful checks. We test taps, showers, and baths. We check the toilet flush and drainage. We test lights, fans and switches. We look over tiles, joints, and seals and fix any small issues before we finish.
Then we walk through the new bathroom with you. We explain how to care for your new surfaces and fittings. We only leave when you are happy with the result.
Albion uses its own Iso-Enamel material rather than cast iron, so the bath feels warm and holds heat but weighs far less a real advantage for flats and upper floors.
